The Margraveship of Ansbach in 1791
Ansbach in the 16th century
There is a famous tale of a werewolf in Ansbach. In 1685, Ansbach was being terrorized by a large
wolf that some people believed was really a werewolf. When the wolf was killed, the wolf's carcass
was dressed up to resemble their detested late mayor and put on display in the town square. After a
few snickers, it was stuffed and moved to a museum.
